Blazeberry Margarita

A sweet-heat blueberry-habanero spin on the classic margarita..

Ingredients (makes one drink)

  • 2 oz blanco tequila

  • ¾ oz fresh lime juice

  • ½ oz Cointreau or triple sec

  • ½ oz agave syrup

  • ½ tsp Blue Blaze hot sauce (adjust to taste)

  • 3–4 fresh basil leaves, plus extra for garnish

  • 4–5 fresh blueberries (optional for muddling)

  • Ice

  • Salt or sugar for rim

Instructions:

  1. Prep the glass

    Run a lime wedge around the rim, dip in salt or sugar, and set aside.

  2. Muddle the flavor

    In a cocktail shaker, gently muddle basil leaves and blueberries (if using) with the agave syrup.

  3. Shake it up

    Add tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, and Blue Blaze hot sauce. Fill shaker with ice and shake for about 15 seconds.

  4. Serve

    Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.

  5. Garnish

    Top with a basil sprig and a couple of blueberries.

Tip:

  • For extra aroma, clap the basil sprig between your hands before garnishing.

  • Swap blanco tequila for mezcal for a smoky, deeper profile.

  • Batch in a pitcher for parties, adjusting heat to taste.
